Jean Pepper LaForce's Obituary
Jean Ellen Pepper LaForce, 86, died Wednesday, July 26, 2023, in Bethesda, MD. She was born on November 28, 1936, in Dallas, TX to Evelyn and Lawson L. Pepper, Jr.
Jean was a longtime resident of the Washington, DC area. She was a member of Lyndon B. Johnson’s Senate and Vice Presidential staff. She also held positions with the Peace Corps and the Office of Protocol at the State Department. She retired from the Small Business Administration as Director, Office of Financial Institutions in 1998.
She held a Master of Business Administration degree from George Washington University. Jean also earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin where she was a proud member of Alpha Phi and was named to the American Honor Society (Mortar Board). Jean was a world traveler and was a docent at the Anderson House in Washington, D.C.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Charles L. “Buddy” Pepper.
She is survived by nephew, William L. “Bill” Pepper (Pam) and nieces Deborah Nugent (Kyle), Emily Whitzel (Scott) and Kate Godwin (Phil) and their families all of the Dallas area. She is also survived by her favorite Kentucky cousin, Ann Stuckenborg and her daughters, as well as a large host of lifelong friends.
Services will be held Wednesday, August 9th with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and graveside service at 11:00 a.m. at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX.
So, can you go home again? Sure, if it’s Texas. Nobody ever really leaves anyways, Texas goes with you.
