Jean Dickey Moses' Obituary
Jean Dickey Moses, 92 years old, passed away on April 26, 2025. She was born February 20, 1933, and raised in New Braunfels, Texas by Nathan and Vida Dickey. Jean attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos and received her BA degree and Teaching Certificate. Her senior year she met Sam Moses, and they were married in 1952. They had two children, Sam, Jr. and Judy. They moved around the country due to Sam’s work transfers and in 1969 they moved back to Dallas.
Jean was a stay-at-home mom until Sam and Judy went off to college and she then began her new career as a model for the Kim Dawson Agency at the age of 44. Her ads appeared in Time magazine, Sports Illustrated, Vogue and several catalogs. She also did runway modeling for Neiman Marcus, Sanger Harris and others stores.
Jean's next job was with Waterford Crystal, and she worked her way up to be the National Tabletop Bridal Director during her 30-year career. The job with Waterford turned out to be her dream job. Other accomplishments – she wanted to learn to cook and she taught herself how to cook and became a gourmet chef. When she was in her 60’s she started taking ballroom dancing lessons and competed in pro-am contests all over the country and consistently won first place awards. After retiring from Waterford, she and a close friend started a company called Social Power teaching social and business etiquette.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Sam Moses, Sr. She is survived by her son, Sam Moses, Jr. and wife Judy Deaton Moses; her daughter Judy Moses Lightle and husband John Lightle; grandson Anthony Moses and wife Crystal Merryfield Moses and a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service to honor Jean will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel - Richardson in the Rose Room, 1981 N Central Expressway, Richardson, TX 75080.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jean's name could be made out to Faith Presbyterian Hospice. Those wishing to donate are welcome to call the hospice directly at (972) 239-5300.
Those wishing to send flowers for Jean's celebration of life service may do so by contacting Rembrandt Florist by Restland at (972) 761-8989. Independent florists are kindly asked to deliver flowers directly to DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Richardson by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, to ensure timely display for Jean's service.
Jean will be laid to rest at Restland Cemetery & Memorial Park in the Garden: Whispering Waters.
