Jean Parnell's Obituary
Jean Parnell, 91 of Dallas, TX passed away November 26, 2019. She was born on October 20, 1928 in Bearden; AR. Jean was one of eight children born to Richard and Emma Lindsey.After graduating from Bearden High School, Jean attended Business College in Little Rock, AR. In 1950, Jean married L.E. “Sonny” Parnell after meeting him at singing school at Central Baptist Church in Little Rock.During their early married years, Jean and Sonny moved from Little Rock where sons Rex and Terry were born to Yuma, AZ where they had daughter Pam.Sonny’s job took the family all over the country – from Houston to Atlanta to Dallas and several moves in between. In 1962, the family settled in Dallas and joined Royal Haven Baptist Church where they were members for 57 years. Jean was a dedicated member of the Joy Sunday School Class and was well known for hosting class meetings and parties.For 35 years, Jean worked at Fox & Jacobs/Centex Homes. In 2001, Jean retired as the company’s Benefits Manager.Jean and Sonny were avid Arkansas Razorback fans and had many friends among coaches and players.Jean was the proverbial hostess – and the Parnell home was always open for hosting church members, Razorback football coaches and staff, and gospel singing groups.Jean’s greatest joy was being a “Mimi” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.Preceded in death by husband L.E. “Sonny” Parnell and son, Terry. Survived by son Rex and wife Sara Parnell; daughter Pam Avlos; grandchildren, Cody and Whitney Krupala, Kylie Broz, and Kaley Parnell; great grandchildren Heston, Emerson, Ellison, and Lincoln Krupala; and numerous other family and friends. Services at 12:30 PM on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home Dallas, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX. Family will receive friends immediately before the service starting at 11:30 AM.
