Jean Annette Slackney's Obituary
Annette Slackney was born on August 1, 1945, in Dallas, Texas and passed away on February 25, 2017, in Dallas, Texas. Annette was preceded in death by her parents JC and Nahoma Rutledge. She leaves to cherish her memory, loving husband of forty-eight years, Cliff Slackney; children, Jason Slackney and daughter in law Laura. Laura Fought son in law Michael; siblings, Joan Phillips and brother in law Wayne; Greg Rutledge and sister in law Paula and four grandchildren, Randolph Fought, Alexander, Grant and Victoria Slackney. As a child, Annette attended Lakeside Baptist Church with her family. She later graduated from Bryan Adams High School in 1963 with English, math, Spanish and history majors. In 1967, she received a Bachelor’s degree in business from The University of North Texas. After a few years of dating, she married Cliff Slackney on September 7th, 1968. Annette worked for the Department of Defense for over 40 years where she received much recognition for her hard work as well as numerous awards including an Exceptional Civilian Service Award in 2003. She was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rockwall for many years. She enjoyed Interior decorating, cooking shows and spending time with her grandchildren. She was loved by many for her intellect and sensitive heart and will leave a large void in the lives of those who knew her. We love you and will miss you very much. You are free to go to the pearly gates of heaven to be greeted with the open arms of your parents you so dearly loved. Rest in peace. The family will receive friends on March 3, 2017 from 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM followed by a funeral service for Annette at 3:00 PM at The Wildwood Chapel. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Society of Hematology. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
