Jean Cathey Strader's Obituary
Jean was born at home in Iredell, Texas, to Roy and Velma Minix on December 1, 1931. She lived her early years in Bosque County Texas along with her Mother and Father, two sisters and one brother.
As a young teen her family moved to Dallas, Texas, to pursue a better life. It was here at the age of 16 she met and married the one great love of her life, Jim Cathey. They quickly started their family and by the time she was 25 they had their hands full with four children. Jean and Jim lived a blessed life together for 57 years before his passing in 2005.
In 2011, Jean found a new life partner in Jerry Strader. The two of them had a life full of adventure and travel exploring new things together. Sadly, poor health robbed them of the ability to do that. Jerry provided every possible care and assistance for Jean to help make their life together easier. Her family is most appreciative of his support for her. They were married for 9 years prior to her death.
How many hats can one person wear?
Wife, mother, Memom and friend, Elders wife, mentor, teacher to children and adults alike, banker, office worker, care taker, chef extraordinaire, but most importantly a faithful child of God.
Our memories and lessons learned will live on long after she has left us. We will best honor her by reflecting her light through our lives. No matter what name you knew her by, she has left a void that can never be filled.
