Jean Christine Yount's Obituary
Memorial Service for Jean C. Yount will be held in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. at 13005 Greenville Avenue in Dallas.Jean Yount went to be with our Lord on Sunday, December 9, 2017, at the age of 93, in San Antonio, Texas. Jean Yount was born on December 18, 1923, in Franklin, Pennsylvania, the daughter of David and Alta (Gegogeine) Benson. She grew up in Hasson Heights, Pennsylvania and attended Oil City Elementary School and Oil City High School. Jean married Harold W. Yount on October 23, 1942, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania. Harold was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army soon afterward.Jean started her life’s adventure as a military spouse and spent thirty years with Harold in the Army retiring in Dallas in 1972. During the course of that service, she lived all over the United States and the world, including Germany, Taiwan, Florida, California, Arizona, New York, Maryland, Iowa, Illinois, New Jersey, and Texas. During that time, she served as a mother and homemaker during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, often leading the household alone while Harold endured extended deployments overseas.After retiring to Dallas, she served as President of her Bridge club and was grandmother and great-grandmother to a large and geographically dispersed family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Harold W. Yount, USA Retired, and her son, David H. Yount. Jean moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2005 to be close to her daughter’s family. She lived at the Independence Hill Retirement Community where she had many friends and bridge partners. She later lived with her daughter, Jeana, and her family and was a member of Northern Hills United Methodist Church.Jean is survived by daughter Sally (Jeana) Kubik and her husband, Wendell of San Antonio, daughter Janet L. Eastwood and her husband, John of Boswell, Oklahoma, son Donald L. Yount and his wife Gail of Flower Mound, Texas. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, including Donald Yount, Jr., Michael Yount, Jeff Yount, Matthew Eastwood, Joseph Eastwood, Brian Yount, Shannon Yount, Shawn Yount, Mark Kubik, Steve Kubik, and Nick Kubik, and seventeen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 9, 2017, at the Restland Funeral home, 13005 Greenville Avenue in Dallas at 10:00 a.m – 12:00 pm. Services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 2:30 PM in the Restland Memorial Chapel.
