Jeanenne Rae Oglesby's Obituary
Jeanenne Rae Oglesby was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to Jesse and Doris Grammer. She passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, after a long and full life devoted to her family, friends, and community. Jeanenne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Ray Oglesby, her parents, Jesse and Doris Grammer, her brother, Jerry Grammer, and her eldest son, Jason Michael Oglesby. She is survived by her sons, Daniel and Adam, her daughter-in-law, Amy, her sister, Janice Walker, and brother-in-law, Michael Walker, along with two grandchildren she adored, Luke and Katherine.
Jeanenne was raised in Dallas, where she attended White Rock United Methodist Church and completed her education within the Dallas Independent School District. She graduated from Bryan Adams High School, where she served as head cheerleader and was part of the inaugural 1961 Dallas Cowboys cheerleading team—an experience that gave her immense pride.
She went on to attend East Texas State University (now East Texas A&M University), where she pledged Gamma Phi Beta and earned her degree in English and Speech. It was there she met her husband, Mike, who was active in student government. The couple married on July 4, 1963, at her parents' residence in Dallas and throughout their marriage, they worked side by side raising a family, building businesses, and sharing a deep and steady love.
Jeanenne began her career teaching English at Hood Junior High in Dallas, where she also sponsored cheerleaders and taught honors English. After several years teaching, she chose to stay home and raise her three boys, later earning her master’s degree from Southern Methodist University. Together with Mike, they founded ventures specializing in benefit administration and real estate, committed to meeting the needs of a wide range of businesses and families across Texas.
Her background in real estate became especially valuable when they founded Oglesby & Associates Incorporated in 1998, a development company focused on residential housing in the Rockwall area. They later focused on acquiring and developing property adjacent to East Texas A&M University, aiming to offer quality housing and business spaces like Oglesby Plaza for students and the Commerce community.
Jeanenne always remained deeply connected to her alma mater, East Texas A&M, working as a student teacher advisor and mentoring future educators in Rockwall and Greenville ISDs. That work, she said, was among the most rewarding of her life. In 2016, she was honored with the East Texas A&M Gold Blazer Award for her professional achievements and continued support of the university. She also served as a director on the East Texas A&M Foundation Board.
After the unexpected passing of their eldest son, Jason—a Lake Highlands High School honors graduate and former member of the school's "Spirit Team" Bell Boys—Jeanenne and Mike established the Jason Oglesby Memorial Scholarship through the Lake Highlands Exchange Club. For more than thirty years, this scholarship has assisted committed Lake Highlands High School students in pursuing higher education by awarding scholarships in Jason's honor.
Personal loss continued to fuel Jeanenne’s philanthropy throughout her life. After Mike’s passing in 2013 following a three-year battle with ALS, Jeanenne established the Mike Oglesby nursing scholarship at East Texas A&M to honor the many nurses who selflessly cared for him.
Jeanenne will be remembered for her warmth, quick wit, and loyalty to her family and friends. Her generosity and quiet strength shaped the lives of everyone lucky enough to know her.
The family wishes to thank the caring staff at The Landing at Augusta Woods and the devoted team from Devotion Hospice. Your tenderness and compassion were a blessing, bringing peace and comfort to Jeanenne and those who loved her.
A private family funeral service will be held. A memorial gathering to honor Jeanenne's life and celebrate her impact on others is scheduled at Lakewood Country Club in Dallas on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Mike and Jeanenne Oglesby Nursing Scholarship Fund at East Texas A&M via the following link: The Mike and Jeanenne Oglesby Nursing Scholarship at ETAM.
