Jeanette Hoffman's Obituary
Lucy J. (Jeanette) Hoffman was born on February 25, 1920 in Dozier, Texas. Her parents were Albert T. Montgomery and Molly Shields Montgomery. In 1937 upon completing high school in Samnorwood, Texas, she met her future husband Leroy J. Hoffman while visiting relatives in Dallas, Texas. In July 1937 they were married by a Church of Christ minister in his grocery store in Dozier, Texas. After their marriage they resided in Dallas where her husband Leroy was employed at M. W. Hoffman Manufacturing Company and Burch Grocery. In 1940 Jeanette and Leroy bought their first grocery store in Dallas. In 1947 they sold the store and moved to Dozier where they bought another grocery store. They operated the Dozier store until 1965 when they sold the store and moved back to Dallas where they resided until their deaths. Jeanette went to work for Tom Thumb’s Simon David grocery store as a checker and later as a buyer before she retired after 25 years of service. service. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, a son Billy Hoffman in 1995, a daughter Molly Hoffman Nunnelly in 2006, her husband Leroy Hoffman in 2009, a sister Maxie Bodine in 2013 and a great-grandson Jarred Biehl in 2014. She is survived by a son, Roy Hoffman, nine grandchildren ten great-grandchildren and a sister Louise Rogers of Wellington, Texas. Jeanette was a member of the Farmers Branch Church of Christ from 1965 until her death. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service for Jeanette will take place at 10:00 am on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Jeanette will be buried in Restland Memorial Park beside her husband Leroy and her son Billy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238
