Jeanette Scott Southwood's Obituary
By God’s will, Jeanette peacefully passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, of 62 years, Tug Southwood. She is survived by her daughter: Dee Blakey Southwood; her daughter: Jayne Sturdivant and her husband, Mitchell; her son: Paul Southwood and his wife, Michele. She is also survived by her grandsons 3: Adam and Matt Whitaker and Mitch Sturdivant, Jr.
Jeanette grew up in Wichita Falls with her parents, Cora and AJ Scott, and her siblings, Frances and Don, She attended Wichita’s Midwestern State University, where she pursued an art degree. As a young woman, she moved to Dallas, and worked downtown at Dallas Power & Light where her future husband worked across the street.
Jeanette was a committed wife and mother. She attended church with her family and also taught Sunday school for 3 year olds. She always made time to visit relatives along the way. Volunteering also brought her joy. She gave her time at Presbyterian Hospital and also at The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Jeanette cherished her lifelong relationships with her relatives, friends, co-workers and neighbors.
Due to Covid, funeral services will be held, for the immediate family, on February 24, 2021 at 2:30pm at Restland Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX. In lieu of no service or flowers, a ‘Tribute’ acknowledgment can be made at the The Dallas Arboretum if desired at the link below:
