Jeanie Marie Harkey Allen Ray's Obituary
Jean Ray went to the loving embrace of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 30, 2015. Jean was born in Denison, Texas, on Oct. 16, 1933 and grew up in Durant, Oklahoma. She moved to Dallas at the age of 16. She enjoyed three distinctive careers: sewing instructor for Singer Sewing Machine; Co-owner of Park-Allen Medical Collections Agency; and long-time antique dealer in the North Dallas area. She is survived by her two sons, Steve L. Allen and wife, Kathy, of Dallas and John (Mark) Allen and wife, Dena, of Duncanville. Jean is also survived by her six grandchildren, Dr. Ashley Allen, Marcus Allen; Sarah Pricer and husband, Anthony; Zachary Allen and wife, Frances; Cameron Allen; and Tanner Moore. She is survived by her four great-grandchildren, Emily Hiles; Zoe Pricer; Madelyn Moore; and Brandon Moore. Jean is also survived by her sister, Cora Reynolds, and brother, Ray Harkey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. C. Cody Ray. The family would like to thank all of her friends for their love and support, especially Kenneth and Terry Busbey; Gay Holder; and Tom and Linda Shelton. The family would also like to thank The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano 6 CUB nursing and respiratory therapy staff; the intensivists physicians group; and Dr. Rick Hebeler for all of their excellent care and support during Jean’s brief illness. Jean developed many lasting friendships through her work as a business owner and antique dealer. She delighted in finding items her long-time customers enjoyed. Most of all, she will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who provided affectionate care and guidance to her children and grandchildren by instilling morals, character, and a hard work ethic. Our Matriarch will be greatly missed! We love you, Mom! The service for Jean Ray will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 10:00 AM in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238 at Restland Road.
