Mrs. Jeanna J. Vaughn's Obituary
Jeanna, or as the younger ones refer to her, Nanny, was born on January 06, 1925, and passed away on March 18, 2023, at the age of 98. She is now reunited with her love of 45 years, Bud, who preceded her in death in 1987, and her precious daughter, Donna, whom she tragically lost in 1981.
Jeanna is survived by her son, Jack Vaughn, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 5 ½ great-great-grandchildren, and numerous dear nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Jeanna was born in Tahoka, Texas to William Arthur (W.A.) and Brittie (Melody) Barker Strickland, undoubtedly with the feistiness and spunk that would carry her for the next 98 years. Her brother, Jack, and her sister, Gloria, soon followed. Jeanna adored them both and took her role as big sister very seriously. Both her brother and sister preceded her in death, as well as her parents. She married Bud on June 14, 1941, had two children, Donna Sue and Jack Edward, and embarked on her favorite role of all time, mom.
Jeanna picked up her education by taking college classes when her kids started college. She obtained her real estate & brokerage licenses and then focused on real estate management. In 1977, she started her own property management company, Vaughn Properties, and she was a card-carrying CPM (Certified Property Manager) and member of the NAR until her late 80s. In 2005, she was selected as the Outstanding Older Worker Representative for Texas for Experience Works, Inc. and was honored in Washington DC.
Jeanna was a devout Christian and a long-time member of Prestonwood Baptist Church. She adored her church and her church family, especially her pew buddies.
Jeanna had a love for all animals. She donated to several animal rescue charities and worked to help find homes for orphaned dogs and cats and improve conditions at shelters.
Family and friends continue life carrying the memories, lessons, and love that Jeanna gave. She will be dearly missed
