Jeanne Johnston Phillips Aka: Nola Jeanne Phillips' Obituary
Born Nola Jeanne Johnston, in Dallas, Texas on April 8, 1924, to Dan Pickens Johnston and Kleo Geer Johnston, Jeanne went to be with the Lord on September 25, 2021 at the age of 97. Jeanne graduated from Highland Park High School and then Southern Methodist University, where she joined Tri Delta and served as president of the chapter, was a Beauty Nominee and Class Favorite. After graduating with honors she was awarded a fellowship for graduate study and taught Geography at SMU for over two decades. Jeanne was an active Tri Delta alumna and served as national president 1976-1980. She was a member of NSDAR, DRT, president of Junior Pierian Club and Lide Spragins Review Club. The Tri Delta Luncheon Club brought much joy throughout her life. Jeanne was blessed with many friends, and loved music, reading and travel. At one time she served as a church organist, and at PCPC she was pianist for Women in Bible and the Good News Class. With her husband Andy Phillips, she played for senior functions and nursing homes. She succeeded Andy as conductor/pianist of the Sentimental Swingers Band. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Robert H. Bogarte, Jr., Bill Grimes, and Anthony (Andy) J. Phillips, Jr., son Robert H. Bogarte, III. She is survived by son, William Blake Grimes, grandsons Blake, Jr. and Zachary Grimes, step-daughter Patty Phillips Alewyne, four step-granddaughters, and many great grandchildren. A graveside service celebrating Jeanne’s life will be held at Restland’s Court of Freedom on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
