Jeanne Witt's Obituary
Born October 29, 1928 in Flatonia, TX and passed away June 16, 2017. She was preceded in death by parents, Leslie and Jewel Wheeler; and brothers, Leslie Jr., John, and William Wheeler. She is survived by three children, Cam Witt (Karlan), Randy Witt (Sissie), and Kay Wallen (Curt) and four grandchildren, Megan Ault (Thomas), Hilary Witt, Marina Jacobsen (Connor) and Morgan Witt, along with her sister, Mary Gay George, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeanne graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1950 and remained an avid Longhorn fan. She settled in Dallas and after raising her family was the successful Director of two AAUW Child Development Centers. Upon retirement, she became an active volunteer at Lovers Lane UMC and had a special affinity for the men’s prison ministry. Jeanne loved to travel, garden and spend time with her family especially when fishing in Colorado. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 4 – 7 PM at Restland Funeral Home’s Abbey Chapel. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, Shipp Chapel with a reception immediately following in Watson Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lovers Lane United Methodist Church men’s prison ministry or the Lewy Body Dementia Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
