Jeannie Kasper's Obituary
Jeannie Kasper, 86, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023 at her home in Garland. Jeannie was born March 25, 1937 in Yazoo, MS to Griffin and Celia Mae Milner and she was one of five
children. As a child, she loved spending time cooking, visiting, and going to church with her grandmother, “Ma” Horne. Jeannie loved the Lord and was always eager to read and listen to the Word and learn from one of her favorites, Charles Stanley.
Jeannie played four years of basketball in high school and graduated from Deer Creek in Edmond, Oklahoma in 1956. After graduation, she moved to Texas to live with her sister and met her neighbor, Edward. They dated three months before marrying in November of 1956. Both had a strong work ethic, and together they built their dream home near Lake Ray Hubbard. For the last four years, Edward has been a wonderful caretaker for her. She was his everything! They were happily married for 65 years.
Jeannie was a dedicated and an efficient secretary and eventually came to work as a paralegal. She earned her Real Estate License and later opened up her own business, Garland Wholesale
Plumbing Supply in Garland.
Jeannie was involved with her children’s activities. She volunteered as a parent room mother, sponsored her girls’ Brownie Troops, cheered at many sporting events, supported her girls’ riding motorcycles and horses, and shared her love for nature.
Jeannie had many passions; most of which were in the kitchen. She loved cooking and feeding others, canning, and collecting recipes. She loved gardening…picking fresh fruits and vegetables, which was an activity that she looked forward to participating in with her children and grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was compiling and completing a cookbook for her good friend, Lois. Jeannie was generous and had the gift of hospitality. On many occasions she shared sentimental gifts from her “gift stash” with family and friends. She was loved by all who knew her and went above and beyond to care for others. She was self-less and always put others first.
She is survived by her husband Edward Kasper, her daughters: Becky Stamey, Susie Floyd, their spouses: Jeff Stamey and Rex Floyd; Grandchildren: Summer Floyd, Kaci Floyd, Chayce Floyd, Landon Stamey, and Sawyer Stamey; Great grandchild: Roman Floyd.
Jeannie, better known as “Grandma,” touched our lives and she will be missed. However, we rejoice in the promise that she is walking on the streets of gold, with her crown of righteousness in the presence of the Father and those who have gone before her.
Our family would like to thank Hope Home Health Care and Leslie Roberts for the wonderful care and friendship that they provided for our mother. We consider them family.
In lieu of flowers you can also make a donation to your local food bank, the Parkinson's Foundation or Alzheimer's Foundation of your choosing in Jeannie's honor.
