Jerrilyn Williamson's Obituary
Jerrilyn was born in Gatesville, Texas, on March 3, 1925, to Wheeler and Mary Schley. She died in Garland, Texas, on November 8, 2017, at the age of 92. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Alton Williamson. Alton loved her so much that he drove through a forest fire just to get to their wedding.Jerrilyn was a mother of two children. She is survived by her son, Lee Veness and his wife Karlene, and their children, Sergei, Sarah, and Katerina. She is also survived by her daughter, Marilyn Stephens and husband Jerry, and their children, Matt Motley and his wife Michelle, and their two daughters Madeline and Michaela, Brett Stephens, Collin Stephens, and Rachel Anderson and her husband Brian.Grandma was so proud of all her grandchildren and loved them so much. She was also excited to become a great-grandmother, “GiGi”, to two beautiful little girls. She loved growing up in Gatesville and then moved with her parents to Kilgore. She always enjoyed visiting family in Gatesville in the summers. Marilyn and Jerry discovered that while in Gatesville she would “tag along” with her Uncle Fisher, who was close in age, and his buddies, Curtis and Ralph, who just happened to be Marilyn’s husband’s father and uncle. She graduated from Kilgore High School and Kilgore Junior College with a degree in business. During that time, her love for dancing, especially the Jitterbug, was in full swing. She enjoyed dancing for many years. She always had a fondness for Texas A&M Aggies which grew when her first grandson enrolled there. And then another grandson went there and her granddaughter married an Aggie as well. As she would say, “WHOOP!”The Bible says, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all.” She always unselfishly put herself last and never thought about being first. She is best remembered for being kind, loving and giving to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be missed but will live on in our hearts and memories. And I will rise when He calls my name.No more sorrow, no more pain.I will rise on eagles’ wings.-Chris Tomlin
