Jerry Wayne Biesel's Obituary
Jerry Wayne Biesel, a proud native Dallasite, passed away in his sleep at his home. His wife, Sue and children were beside him, as well as his beloved dog Angel. Jerry was born in Baylor Hospital August 24th, 1935. Jerry graduated from Forest Ave. High School around 1952 at the age of 17.
Jerry spent most of his adult life on various golf courses, mainly Tenison and Dallas Athletic Golf Club. When not on the course, he could generally be found in the 19th hole playing a round of Gin Rummy or Poker. Jerry went from horseshows to baseball games, soccer games and golf tournaments all while practicing law and handling some major cases requiring a lot of his time and effort but he always found a way to support his family and spend time with them.
Jerry was a Bibliophile. And the collection of books he had was enormous and covered all subjects except Fiction. He said he didn’t need to read fiction because he lived what most people call fiction.
Jerry lived his entire life in Dallas, except for the 10 years he spent in Austin, while attending the University and UT Law school. He was proud to have played Baseball under the legendary Coach Bibb Falk. He graduated Law School and then began his private law practice in Dallas in 1963. He was a firm believer in the rule of law and over his 52 years of practicing he tried many different types of cases. His friends and clients were from all walks of life from miscreants to ministers, politicians to criminals which sometimes seemed the same. If he called you his friend you remained a friend to the end. Jerry loved developing businesses. He had a nose for real estate development from office buildings to residential, lake lots to night clubs. He was part of the group that invented Rush Poker.
Jerry had wisdom and sayings that most of us either had the pleasure of hearing or experiencing. He was never afraid to tell you how it was and he was always there to care enough to tell you. Jerry was very smart in business and always aware of the Scam. He took his cue about life from Earl Nightingale’s The Strangest Secret. Here are a few of Jerry’s favorites, “We become what we think about”,” No man can get rich himself without enriching others” and “You will never be broke if you use your money to help others.”
Jerry was a master storyteller; and, much to his audience’s surprise, his stories were all true!
Preceded in death by his parents, Harold “Toots” Biesel and Lucille Todd Biesel and his brother Bobby “R.O Biesel. Jerry is survived by his wife and partner of over 50 years, Elizabeth Sue Biesel, and his 3 children who he loved with his whole big heart, Daughter, Amy Biesel Hull (Bill), Sons, Troy Biesel (Summer) and Rob Biesel (Brandi), two precious grandchildren, Briggs Biesel and Journie Biesel and his nephew Brad Biesel. He is also survived by his loyal assistant, AKA the Boss, Paula Lorimar. She kept all of us on the right path for the last 40 years.
