Dr. Jerry Preston Dickey's Obituary
Dr. Jerry Preston Dickey, born on April 10, 1945 in Tulsa, OK, passed away peacefully at his home on December 10, 2023 at the age of 78.
Dr. Dickey joined the United States Marine Corps in October 1968, 3 months after graduating from Oklahoma University with a BBA degree in Production and Personnel Management. After completing boot camp in San Diego, CA, and graduating from Mortar School at Camp Pendleton, he was sent to Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station in Oahu, Hawaii where he joined the 1st Battalion, 27th Marines, 1st Marine Brigade, Fleet Marine Force (FMF). While preparing to go to Vietnam, he was offered a position at headquarters in S3 (operations) and was eventually appointed to Sergeant when he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal.
Dr. Dickey received his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from Parker College in 1988 and worked at various clinics, ultimately retiring from Brooks Accident & Care Clinic in OKC in 2021, after more than 20 years of employment. After retirement, Dr. Dickey moved back to Dallas to spend time with family.
He is preceded in death by his “Big Brother” James (Jim) Robert Dickey, Jr., his father, Dr. James Robert Dickey, Sr., and his mother, Marguerite May Dickey.
Dr. Dickey is survived by: his daughter, Laura Dickey; his stepdaughter, Alana Brown; two grandchildren (Alana's sons); one great-grandchild; four niecesand his Brooks Clinic work family.
Dr. Dickey loved everything related to OU football, watching science fiction movies, sharing stories about the Marines, and talking politics.
