The miracle baby of Murphy, Texas, our Dad was a very premature infant during a time when their survival was nearly unheard-of, and incubators were for baby chicks, so we are a blessed and lucky family indeed! His grandfather determinedly nursed him continuously until he was able to survive. He was a WWII Pacific war veteran, good natured, steadfast and tolerant, raising us as a single father for much of my childhood back when that was a rarity, and was one of the earliest Texas Instruments employees, at the dawn of the integrated circuit. He had a gold badge and more than 35 years there when he retired.God bless you, Dad, a quiet and hardworking man like your father, for a lifetime of unconditional love, and for that particular sight which always found your children worthy of your pride in them. I cannot change the passage of time or the cruelty of Alzheimer’s which took you away from us years before Jesus gently carried you home.I love you and will keep you alive in quiet spaces of the mind and soul where I can still hear your easy laughter, feel your hand on my shoulder, and be still and comforted again they way all children should.
