Jerry Ann Northrip Brown's Obituary
Jerry Ann Northrip Brown, a woman whose spirit touched the hearts of so many, passed away on
Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Born on March 5, 1931, in Warner, Oklahoma, Jerry Ann was a beacon of light
and inspiration from the very beginning. She was the cherished daughter of Gerald and Faye Northrip,
and the beloved sister to Sam Northrip.
Jerry Ann was not only a dedicated learner, having earned her Bachelor's degree in speech and drama
from Oklahoma State University and a Master's in English from East Central State University, but she
also had an unparalleled drive to succeed. Her career in radio was groundbreaking; she made history as
one of the first women to obtain an engineer's certification to run the boards, a testament to her talent
and determination. As the beloved Story Time Lady, she captivated audiences, bringing stories to life.
Her passion for education was evident throughout her remarkable 30-year teaching career. Jerry Ann
taught speech, drama, Spanish, and English, nurturing countless students and sparking their
imaginations. Her dedication to her students led her to pursue a counseling certification, which allowed
her to guide and support young minds at Thomas Edison High School in Tulsa. When her family
relocated to Dallas, she continued to break barriers, becoming the first woman assistant principal in
Richardson, paving the way for future generations of female leaders in education.
Jerry Ann had a profound love for her family, and her greatest joy came from being a grandmother. She
embraced her role as a full-time grandmother after retiring in 1994, showering her grandchildren with
love and wisdom.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Webb Brown, her parents, Gerald and Faye Northrip; her
brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Beth Northrip.
She is survived by her son Frank, daughter Teresa and her husband Chris, and her beloved
grandchildren, Colton and Kylee, along with her brother-in-law Clarence Brown and an extensive family
of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Jerry Ann's life was filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to those around her. She loved big
and loved unconditionally, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her
warmth, kindness, and spirit will forever be etched in our hearts.
