Jerry Donald Pate's Obituary
PATE, JERRY DONALDSON of Carrollton, Texas died Thursday January 24, 2013 at his home surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was born on July 14, 1943 in DeQueen, Arkansas to Theodore Roosevelt Pate and Clara Ruby Pate of Broken, Oklahoma. He Graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1961 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Southeastern Oklahoma University in Durant, Oklahoma. He moved to Burkburnett, Texas in 1967 where he was a teacher and an insurance agent. He spent many years in community service by serving on the City Council and as mayor of Burkburnett. He moved to Dallas in 1994 and continued in the insurance industry until he retired in 2012. He was a kind and gentle man who never met a stranger. His many good deeds were done anonymously and were deeply rewarding to him. He was always smiling and loved his family and friends. He loved Prestonwood Baptist Church and attended the Church for seventeen years. He was preceded in death by his parents, TR and Clara Pate; brothers, Harold and Sonny Pate; sister, Linda Pate. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Pate of 17 years; daughters, Kelly Fuller and Beth Carr and husband, Jason; stepdaughter, Tia Angell and 5 grandchildren, Kayley Fuller, Dylan, Brayden, McKynsie Carr, and Elijah Henry; brothers, Buddy Pate and wife, Verna, Terry Pate and wife, Nancy, and Sister Jackie Walden. The funeral will be Monday January 28, 2013 at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Restland Funeral Home immediately following the service. Pallbearers will be nephews Terry, Lynn and Steve Walden, Mark Pate and Fraternity brothers Paul Booker, Roger Humphrey and John Davis.
