Becky and family, I,m so saddened to hear of your loss. You and Jerry were such good friends to Dick and myself. Lots of good memories of parties at Contel here in Bakersfield. Jerry was always such a kind gentle man. I know you will miss him so much. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. Connie Stewart
The one bad memory I have of Jerry Burse is when he nailed me in the face with a snowball in Tahoe when I was about four or five years old. To be honest it may have been Aunt Becky but I always associated that hit with Uncle Jerry. I look back on that now with a smile because every other memory I have of Uncle Jerry was filled with love, kindness and generosity. I will forever long to have spent more time with you Jerry and to have been closer with you. I do, however, cherish the memories of the good times we did have together. I got my middle name from you. You were also, always willing to give me a good razzing when we saw each other. My memories of you are filled with love, joy and a big smile and I hope you knew how much you meant to me. Rest well Uncle Jerry. Your memory will live with those of us who loved you.

Jerry and I went to work for the Bakersfield Fire Department on the same day (April 1, 1965) and became close friends from the beginning. We shared so many good times together, both on and off the job. We both decided to remain Fire Engineers instead of trying to become Fire Captains because it was the best job on the department. When he moved to Texas, it left a big void in my life. For several years I flew to meet him and would ride with him to Bakersfield when he came to visit his family. What a great time we had together sharing memories along the way. He was one of the kindest, most warm hearted people I have ever known. When another of our friends was dying of cancer, Jerry flew to Las Vegas to meet us so that we could show our departing friend one last good time. I wish I could have done the same for Jerry. I'll miss our times together and our phone conversations. Becky, I know Jerry loved you very much. My heart goes out to you, along with my thanks for taking care of my best friend. Robert Hacker
