Jerry Windham's Obituary
Born July 26, 1928 in Myra, TX to John Franklin and Eva Elizabeth (Trusty) Windham passed away March 20, 2015 in Rockwall, TX at the Broadmoor Medical Lodge while in Vitas Hospice care. Preceded in death by his wife of 44 year, Lucy; sons, Gary Don Windham and baby Joseph Windham. A longtime resident of Garland, TX. Jerry was the oldest of seven children and grew up in the Sanger, Gainesville, and Justin, TX area. He is survived by sons, Ron Windham, Clyde Windham and wife, Carol; grandchildren, Kimberly Wright and husband, Kenneth; Cris Whitaker; great grandchildren, Braden and Jade Wright; numerous nieces and nephews; and sisters, Doris Jean Heathcock of Justin, TX and Janie Travis of AK. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Windham and Tommy Windham of Justin, TX area; sisters, Dorothy Petty of Ft. Worth, TX, and JoAnn Travis of Washington State. Military Service: Jerry was a Staff Sargent in the Air Force stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX. Career: Jerry worked in the Airline industry as a master mechanic. He retired after a 25 year career at Kraft Foods in Garland, TX as the head line mechanic in charge of the barbeque department. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge #441 in Garland, TX for over 55 years. Hobbies and interests: Hunting, fishing, coaching and watching all his son’s sports, golf, bowling, gambling at the casinos, gardening, playing guitar and the fiddle plus singing and just enjoying all the gatherings with the Windham and Burt families. The visitation for Jerry Windham will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. The service for Jerry will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 11:00 AM in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Stroke Association.
