I was so sad to hear about Jess's passing. I got to teach him when he was a sophomore in high school. Even as a 10th grader, it was very apparent that he was a good, good person.

Jess was one of a kind. He lived to help other people and share his joyful spirit. I am going to miss having Jess around. He was always competitive and pushed me to be better, like a big brother. I will always remember the countless memories and great conversations shared with my friend. My heart and prayers go out to the Barrett family.
The Flink Family sends you love and sweet thoughts. We are so sad to hear about Jess's death. We have so many fond memories of Jess growing up. He was one of the most polite young men in our athlete circle! It was so much fun competing against him in Park Cities Y Basketball. He was certainly a star on those teams. And, we all remember the heroic pitching night described in the obituary. It was something to behold. Jess and I stayed in touch as he grew into adulthood. He sometimes would call me when he was trying to help someone. His loving nature was very special.
He was our captain and we loved him.

He was second in line at my wedding, made a phenomenal speech, called me everyday. Jess represented everything a caring and dedicated friend embodied. This has been very hard for me and my family. My children will always know who Uncle Jess was as his story will be told consistently. To the family of Jess, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. He was and will always be, one of the greatest people to walk in life. As he would always say to me; “God has a plan for me”.
I am so saddened to hear about Jess’ passing. He took me on my first date, we rode bikes to Baskin Robbins in Snider Plaza. In middle school, Jess dropped off mixed cds and beautiful handwritten poems as my ‘secret valentine’, that I still have. There was no one else I’d rather sit next to at graduation.
I will cherish my memories with Jess forever and am sending so many prayers to the Barrett family.
