I’m not sure why I thought of Ruth and Richard today, but I did. Gayla and I have some good memories of both of you. One of my favorites is Richard calling our children KeriBeth, Kendal “Beth”, and Travis “Beth”. He never knew Melissa, but I’m quite sure that he would have called her Melissa “Beth”. Ruth, it’s been a while, but the Lord brings you to mind every so often.
Richard Anderton was the father of a fellow undergrad classmate, Amy Anderton, whom I dated. I soon discovered that his nickname for me was “The Jockey.” Someone asked me if it bothered me that he picked that nickname because I’m short, and I replied, “The fact that I’m short is not a secret!”
He was so good natured and down to earth in his conversations. His love for his family was evident through his actions and he was dedicated to his work, as well. It was a privilege to know him and I thank God for the Andertons, whom I pray God grants His comfort, peace, and love.
