Gray was my first cousin. Gray was the fourth oldest of 14 first cousins on the Bowen side. I have wonderful memories of our Bowen family gathering every year for Thanksgiving. There was always a BIG, welcoming crowd which grew over the years.
When I think of Gray I am reminded of the fun my sister Gail and I had playing with Gray and his brother Doug in their family's backyard on Stratford Road. His father and our grandfather (all Jesses) had a piano store in downtown Winston-Salem. Those pianos were shipped in crates and boxes which morphed into a backyard playhouse. These were not just any boxes--they were HUGE! We loved playing with the twins in that multi-room mansion!
May our memories of Gray be a comfort to us all.
