Jeurida Villasana's Obituary
Jeurida Villasana: A Life of Devotion, Service, and Spirit
Jeurida Jo Villasana (née Fairless), a cornerstone of her Dallas community and the heart of her family, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, at the age of 91.
Born on May 18, 1934, in Dallas, Texas, Jeurida was a proud, lifelong Dallasite. She was the daughter of the late Joe Wade Fairless and Estelle Elizabeth Akins. A 1953 graduate of Crozier Tech High School, where she met Rudolph King Villasana Jr. and began their 58-year marriage together, which was an epic love story and a true partnership.
Together, they successfully operated an independent trucking business for over five decades, and Jeurida was also a familiar and welcoming face at the family-run Villasana Grocery Store, where she worked part-time for more than 20 years, connecting daily with her family and the community.
Jeurida’s home was a sanctuary of hospitality, especially at the holidays and also an epicenter for watching Texas sports. A passionate fan of both professional and college athletics, she never missed a Dallas Cowboys game or the chance to cheer on her daughters' alma maters, the Texas Longhorns and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. She especially loved attending in person whenever she and Rudy had the opportunity. An exceptional cook and a "spirited competitor," she lived for the annual Labor Day dove hunts in South Texas and winter quail hunts in West Texas, with Rudy, Elva and the dogs. In her later years, her competitive fire always remained bright during evening domino games with friends and family.
Her legacy of service is woven into the fabric of Dallas. Whether she was leading a Girl Scout troop, teaching a child to swim, or guiding young women as a Mother Advisor for The Order of Rainbow for Girls, Jeurida led with patience and grace. Jeurida also loved the arts and attending favorite musicals with Anna and the Dallas Opera with Elva. In her later years, Jeurida found immense joy in the company of her cherished bearded German Shorthaired Pointer, Blossom. Blossom was her ever-loyal shadow and a constant source of a wiggling tail and unmatched companionship.
Jeurida is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Rudy; her parents; her brothers, Wade, Bill, and Jack Fairless; her sister’s in-law Bobbye and Jean Fairless; Dora Zapata and Yolanda Rodriquez; her loving grandparents; many caring aunts and uncles; and her adored daughter, Anna Yolanda Villasana Casey, and son-in-law, Todd Reuel Casey.
Jeurida is survived by her devoted daughter, Elva Villasana Lewis; her cherished sister-in-law, Tommie Fairless; and a community of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors who will miss her dearly.
