Jewell McLearan Sweet's Obituary
Jewell McLearan Sweet, 89, of Grand Prairie, TX, passed away peacefully at home on November 21, 2017, with her family by her side.Jewell, the eighth of nine children, was born June 25, 1928, in Bixby, OK, the daughter of Jack and Anna (Pregler) McLearan. She married Lewis Karl Sweet December 27, 1949.Jewell and Lewis are survived by three daughters, Gemmy (Ronald) Allen, Viola Sweet Marshall, Karla (Shiou) Huang; six grandchildren, Luke Allen, Esther Allen Campbell, MacKenzie Sweet, Abby Huang, Zach Huang, and Ariel Huang; and three great-grandchildren, Gage and Georgia Campbell and Arya Sweet.Jewell was a hard-working woman who was not afraid to learn or try anything. Helping women in business was always important to her. She was a registered nurse [graduate of Saint John’s Hospital School of Nursing, Tulsa, OK, 1949] and until two years ago, an active real estate broker [completed classes at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX, 1959].A private service will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie First Kids Academy, 950 Mayfield Rd., Grand Prairie, TX 75052.The family is being served by the Restland Funeral Home.
