Jill Sullins' Obituary
Jill Packales Sullins, passed away peacefully in Plano, TX, on August 25, 2015, where she was surrounded by her family. She had just celebrated her 70th birthday only nine days before. Jill’s journey began on August 16, 1945 in Great Neck, NY. She was a strong, determined and independent woman, mother and grandmother, and was respected by all who met her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Shirley Packales of Palm Beach, FL and West Hartford, CT. She is survived by her loving husband, Garland Sullins, with whom she traveled the world, her sister Terry Gamer, of West Hartford, CT, her loving sons Dan Hight and husband Kirk Welcher, of Dallas, TX, and David Hight and wife Kristin, of McKinney, TX, her beautiful granddaughters, Isabel and Caroline Hight of McKinney, TX, step-sons David Sullins of Plano, TX, and Gerald Sullins and wife Jamie, of Arlington, TX, and step-grandchildren Ryan and Amanda Sullins of Arlington, TX, and nieces Tracey Gamer Fanning of West Hartford, CT and Jennifer Pfeffer of Barrington, RI. She found success as a third generation entrepreneur, launching her own graphics design company in Los Angeles, CA before relocating to Dallas in 1978. She finally found her soul-mate in Garland, and they married in 1987. The years she spent in the Dallas Model A Ford Club, and driving around the country with Garland in their 1931 Model A Ford Victoria were some of her happiest times. After her work-life was over, she found a sense of purpose in various board positions with Model A Ford Club of America (MAFCA). Her aim was to see what was on the other side of the mountain, across the ocean or around the just around the next turn. She did so, by taking 27 cruises, traveling to over 64 countries, all 50 states and virtually every little town in TX with Garland arm-and-arm. Now, her journey continues. She never complained about being sick, seeing all the doctors, taking all the blood or all the pain she was in for so many years. She held her head high and toughed it out. That was Jill, that was mom…tough as nails. Memorial service will be held Monday, August 31, 2015 at 3:00 PM in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243 In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association, Inc. (www.aarda.org).
