Jim R. Stivers' Obituary
STIVERS, Jimmy (Jim) Reed, 81 born October 27, 1932 in Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away January 5, 2014 in Plano, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph William in 1972 and Grace Reed in 1990; and brothers, Roy, Jack and R.W. Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty; son, Larry Stivers and wife, Suzie of Mesquite, Texas and their two children; five grandchildren, Ron Stivers and wife, Denise of Coppell, Texas, and their two children; brother, Lewis and wife, Joan of Plano, Texas and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. Jim attended Oklahoma State University before joining Sears Corporation where he enjoyed a long career as a serviceman, technician and Instructor/Trainer, before his retirement in 1990, after over 30 years of service. Jim devoted his retirement years by giving of his time in helping others through his efforts at child mentoring at Buckner Orphans Home, performing lay minister duties at Baylor Hospital, and food collection for local food pantries. He left behind a legacy of service and giving and will be tremendously missed by his family. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. A memorial service and celebration of his life is planned at 11:00 AM Friday, January 10, 2014 at The Heights Baptist Church located at 201 West Renner Road, Richardson, Texas 75080.
