Jimmie Lee Boyd
August 10, 1934 - March 1, 2025
Jimmie Lee Boyd, a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on March 1, 2025, at the age of 90. Born in Plano, Texas, on August 10, 1934, to Jim and Mae Ethel Miles Murphy, Jimmie grew up in the heart of her Douglas community, attending both elementary and high school there.
With a passion for caring for others, Jimmie pursued a career in nursing, attending Prairie View A&M University before earning her Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) certification at Collin County Memorial. She dedicated 28 years to nursing, providing compassionate care to those in need. After retiring from the medical field, she continued serving her community by working as a bus monitor for the Plano Independent School District for six years.
Faith was a cornerstone of Jimmie's life. She was an active member of Hills Chapel CME Church in Plano before later joining St. James CME Church in McKinney, where she served on the missionary board. She loved attending football games to cheer on her children and grandchildren, whether she was playing bingo and cards with loved ones, or shopping on QVC or HSN. She often indulged in her favorite TV shows and Denzel Washington movies. Her presence was a gift to everyone who knew her. She had a joyful spirit and sense of humor that could brighten any room. She made even the simplest moments special!
Jimmie was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Mae Ethel Murphy; her sisters, Ola Mae Jackson, Barbara Sue Davis, Joyce Murphy, and Joanne Murphy; her brothers, Danny Ray Murphy and William "Tomcat" Murphy; and her stepson, Grady L. Dunbar. She is survived by her sister, Loyce Ann Murphy, and sister-in-law, Kathy Murphy.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 67 years, Grady L. Boyd; her children, Barbara Boyd Reed (Joseph), Gracie L. Boyd, Sonia Roque, Nathaniel "Blue" Brooks (Sevena), and Karlton Kelly Boyd; 11 grandchildren: Latoya Ollie (Lonnie), Ryan Dunbar, Zoshia Dunbar, Jasmine Hardy (Devante), Chandra Boyd (Dwayne), Jayce Boyd, Quentin Brooks (Jennifer), Dante Brooks, Broc Boyd (Lauren), Issak Boyd, and Joshua Reed; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Jimmie's love, faith, laughter, and unwavering spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her and will never be forgotten.
