Jimmie Carroll Dixon's Obituary
Jimmie C. Dixon, born on October 31, 1937, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022. He is preceded by his parents, Price & Rachel, his sister, Betty Williams, his loving wife Gail & his son in-law, Kory Rindahl.
Jimmie was born in Rosston, Arkansas and spent his first few years there until his family relocated to the Oak Cliff area of Dallas. Jimmie met his future wife, Gail, as a teenager delivering groceries to her mother’s house.
He graduated from Sunset High School in 1955 and proudly attended the University of Texas, graduating in 1962 with a degree in Architectural Engineering. Jimmie and Gail were married that same year.
He spent the first 25 years of his career working for Texas Industries where he worked his way into the role of Vice President. Jimmie moved into a similar role, working most often out of state for long periods with Hatch Associates, from the late 1980’s to the early 2000’s.
Known for the strength of his character, good judgment, independent nature, loyal friendship, his great love of his wife, children, nephews and friends, his dry sense of humor and his pride in the Texas Longhorns. Jimmie generated a great deal of good and warm feelings through his love of sharing the smoked ribs and briskets that he was an expert at making. He was known to all as a “great guy”.
Jimmie C. claimed many of his and Gail’s longtime friends and his children’s close friends as family and treated them as such. He is survived by his daughter, Elaine Rindahl, his son, David Dixon, nephews Kevin Williams, Jeffrey Williams, John Cartmill & his daughter in-law Beata Koder.
