Jimmie "Gene" Eugene Parham's Obituary
Gene Parham passed away on October 12, 2018. He was born Jimmie Eugene Parham near Honey Grove, Fannin County, Texas on September 11, 1927, to Arthur and Hattie Faulkner Parham.He lived near Honey Grove on a farm until he graduated from Honey Grove High School and entered the Army. He served in the Headquarters Company, Corp of Engineers, 1067 Engineers Construction Group, with the Occupation Troops in Kyoto, Japan. Members of 1067″ Engineers Construction Group make topographic surveys in the Kyoto area, assist in the building of houses for the dependents, and improve and maintain better living conditions for the soldiers in the surrounding units. After serving in the Army, he helped his parent’s farm until he got a job in Dallas, Texas.He married Ima Gene Vessels, Thanksgiving Day, on November 24, 1949, at the home of Rev. Dan Davis in Dallas, Texas. They have two children: Sharon and Jimmy.He entered Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Accounting. He worked at different companies in the positions of Corporate Controller, Office Manager, Financial Planning, Budget Director, Cost Accountant and worked on mergers and acquisitions, He was with King Koil Sleep Products of Texas when he retired on September 30, 1992.His Mother led him to Jesus Christ as his Savior at a small country church near Honey Grove in the summer of 1940. He was a Baptist and he was ordained a Deacon on October 5, 1958, at Beckley Wynnewood Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. He has served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher for children, high school age youth and adult classes and on various church committees.His wife, Ima Gene, daughter Sharon Petton, and son and daughter-in-law Jimmy and Betsy and granddaughters Margaret rind Julia of New York City, survive him.His parents Arthur and Hattie Parham, grandson Christopher Petton, and four brother’s Milburn, Dee, Dale, and Don preceded him in death.Funeral services for Gene Parham will be held Friday, October 19, 2018, at 3:00 PM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243Funeral arrangements for Gene Parham have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
