Sincere condolences to your family. I am so very sorry for your loss. May God provide the necessary peace and comfort to your family and friends during this difficult time. Please remember these words of encouragement from the Bible: “ Jesus plainly told her: “I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.” —John 11:20-25.
For the last numbers of years, Jim, Doug McSwain, and I did Great Courses surveys of a variety of topics---including studies of Great Thinkers, the Universe, Christianity, Judaism, Consciousness and others. Jim was a wonderful resource and fellow student of all of these topics, and he loved the questions represented by each. He had an open and inquiring mind, as well as having lived a life full of valuable experience and knowledge. We three valued the time we spent together and the sharing of new information and insights, generally agreeing that we came to realize more questions than answers. I will miss Jim, but his Spirit undoubtedly will continue with usl.
Jim had a great appreciation and love of Marlene, and he was quite aware of the loving care she provided him, particularly during his last years of health challenges. Marlene's loving care of Jim was evident to Doug and me, and we would often remark how fortunate Jim was to have Marlene.
It appeared to me that Jim lived a gratifying and valuable life, and was ready to Cross the River Jordon, knowing that his Savior would be there to help him along the way.
