Jimmy Robert Ewing's Obituary
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, Jimmy Robert Ewing, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 90. He faced his final days with strength and dignity. He is now reunited with his parents, brother Jerry Lee Ewing, and great-grandson Conner Webb.
Born on May 23, 1934, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to T.L. Ewing and Nila Knight Ewing, he lived a full life and was loved and adored by all who knew him. Jimmy married Rose Mavette Nichols on November 6, 1953, celebrating nearly seven decades of love. She was the love of his life, and he cherished her deeply.
He is survived by his beautiful and loving wife of nearly 71 years, Rose Mavette Ewing, and their three daughters: Jeanne Lynn Ewing, Julie Renae Kohnle (husband Jeff), and Jill Michael Eidson (husband Ernie). He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Shawna Ohnesorge (husband Kurt), Michelle Coppinger, Jennifer Webb (husband Joel), Sarah Summers (husband Ryan), and Zeke Eidson (wife Caroline). He also leaves behind fifteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
He served proudly in the Navy and went on to enjoy a successful career with Southwestern Bell/AT&T for over 30 years, followed by another decade with EDS before fully embracing retirement.
A devoted Christian, he faithfully served in the Baptist church, notably leading the singing with his beautiful voice. Now, we find comfort in knowing he is singing in the best choir in Heaven.
He loved spending time with his family, golfing, reading, and solving crossword puzzles. Always involved in sports, he especially loved playing softball and was a pitcher for several years on the Wichita Falls Downtown Baptist Church softball team. He also enjoyed participating in various activities at the Boys & Girls Club in Wichita Falls, Texas, including trying his hand at boxing and basketball.
While we will deeply miss him, we find peace knowing he is now home with Jesus, and we will one day be reunited.
We are deeply grateful to the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center for their compassionate care during his final days, ensuring his homegoing was comfortable and peaceful.
Services will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243.
