Powell, Jimmy Ray (Jim) born November 3, 1942 in Chidress, Texas and passed away March 26, 2015 in Plano, Texas. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Edith Powell; daughter, Angela Powell Wood; Niece, Amber Kay Leake. Jim is survived by wife, Sue Powell; daughter, Debi Powell Parham and her husband, Phil; daughter, Renee’ Blakely and her husband, Scott; sisters, Kay Powell and Gay Leake and husband, Bruce; nephew, Bruce Leake; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren and numerous cousins. Jim graduated from Oak Cliff High School. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed horse races, traveling and loved his family and friends. Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Kirkland Cemetery, Childress, Texas. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cal Farley’s P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas 79105-9985 or Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children through www.tsrhc.org. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238 at Restland Road.
