Jimmy Garrett Moore's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jimmy Garrett Moore (85) on August 21, 2016 after a long battle from the ill effects of vascular dementia. Jimmy was born in Pryor, OK on July 22, 1931 to Alma and Garrett Moore. As a child, Jimmy worked selling newspapers on street corners. He survived the Pryor, OK tornado of 1942 while selling newspapers. Jimmy later became interested in pharmacy while making ice cream at Gatewood Drugs during WWII where he eventually helped in the pharmacy filling prescriptions. This is when he met his wife to be, Barbara Jo Hill who he married and ended up with in Fort Dix, New Jersey as an Army draftee where he served during the Korean Conflict as a military policeman. Upon completion of his service he took advantage of the G.I. Bill to attend college at the University of Oklahoma where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. After graduation, he started working as a pharmaceutical representative for Eli Lilly & Company in Texas where he retired after 34 years of service. Afterwards he worked as a pharmacist in Dallas. Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, a younger brother, Billy Bob and wife Sue Ann, a sister, Betty and husband Bud. He is survived by Barbara, his wife of 65 years, his 3 sons, Terry and wife Rosemary, Randy and wife CK, Carter and wife Randa, 6 grandchildren, Meredith and husband Josh, Garrett, Clayton and wife Janna, Summer, Miranda, and Megan, 3 great grandchildren, Bennett Claudio, Madelyn Claudio, Holland Moore, his brother, Jackie and wife Margaret, and his sister, June. Family will receive friends Wednesday August 24 from 6-8 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be the following day, August 25 at 12:30 PM at the Wildwood Chapel, Restland Funeral Home.
