Jimmy and I were best friends at Samuell. We both lived at Arlington State College (UTA) in separate dorms. I got my draft notice in October of 66' and Smitty decided to join the Navy. Oddly, we both went to the Vietnam War in Aviation. He was on an Enterprise that had a massive fire at sea and I was a Combat Medic in the 433rd Air Ambulance Company. We were roommates after we got out and both enrolled in UTA. Jimmy, liked to be called "Jay" and he quickly chose to be in the early stages of Computers. We both worked for State Farm Insurance at night so we could both go to College during the day.
At one point Smitty got his dream car a Chevrolet 396' Camero and proceeded to obtain a great fondness to meeting Irving Police Officers at stops on the side of numerous roads.
He was a great friend that I somehow lost contact with. He will be greatly missed! Rest easy in Heaven, you've earned it.
