Jo Carole McLure Capley's Obituary
Jo Carole McLure Capley (78) passed away on December 2, 2025, due to complications from a stroke. She is resting peacefully in the arms of her Heavenly Father. She was born on May 20, 1947, in Dallas, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her father, Joe McLure; mother, Ethelyn Peters McLure; stepmother, Peggy Gateley McLure; sister, Joan Willis; and her faithful companion, Rocky the Australian Shepherd.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 11 years, Don Blake; sons Tommy Capley (LeaAnn) and Todd Capley (Lisa); sisters Barbara Finch, Judy Clasen, and Dr. Ann Gateley; three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and stepchildren Kevin Blake and Katy Blake.
Jo was the youngest of four sisters and was raised in Dallas. She was strong-willed in overcoming tough times, but her life was full raising two young boys. As her sons grew up, they became pillars of strength for their mother. They shared a rock-solid, loving relationship that was beautiful to witness. The boys were always there, at any cost, to defend and assist their mom. Jo often bragged about their strong work ethic and worried about them working long hours. She cherished her weekly phone calls with them.
Jo was proud to purchase her first car and later her townhouse in Dallas. She worked tirelessly to make her home a sanctuary.
She was a beautiful, vivacious, and captivating woman—stubborn and gritty at times, yet kind. Her character carried enduring qualities that everyone loved and that captured the hearts of all she met. She was always sassy and stylish. Her husband lovingly dubbed her “Ms. Nordstrom.”
Jo lived life to the fullest and would not have had it any other way. She developed a network of close friends that lasted more than 50 years, built on mutual love and trust. The highlights of her life included weekly conference calls with her sisters, conversations with her granddaughter Courtney, time with her precious great-grandchildren, annual beach trips with her family, hosting and celebrating birthdays and holidays, sunbathing at the clubhouse pool, and Friday date nights with her husband—complete with a Grey Goose cocktail and Pink Floyd. She also loved cooking delicious meals, gardening, interior design, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. And she never missed her customary monthly cheeseburger with onion rings.
Jo Carole worked for more than 30 years in the Accounting Department as a devoted employee of NEC Corporation of America. She retired as Supervisor of Accounting in 2014.
Her sunshine will never set. Her legacy will live on at family functions and holidays. Jo Carole will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
