Jo Ann Cotton Wertz's Obituary
Loving wife and mother, passed away on Feb. 26, 2015 in Athens, Texas. She was born May 5,1926 in Dallas, Texas to Horace M. Cotton and Bertha Thornton Cotton. She married James W. Wertz on July 3,1946 in Dallas, Texas, and were married for 59 years prior to his death. She and Jim were long-time members of the Dallas Sail and Power Squadron, and part of the “River Rats” boating group. She was a self-taught artist, quilter, and anything else she wanted to do. She is the best example of a mother who was always ready to give what she had for her family when life turned cruel and was always ready with help and support. She will be sorely missed. Surviving are her sister, Billie Jean Carroll; children, Michael Wertz and wife, Flossie, Suzanne Wertz Halwas and husband, Larry, Donna House and husband, Charlie, and Beverly Wertz; 6 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2-4 pm, Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will take place 12:30 pm, Monday, March 2, 2015 at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
