Jo Carolyn "Carol" Harris' Obituary
Jo Carolyn “Carol” Harris, 75, of Richardson, Texas, peacefully passed away the morning of February 19, 2025, after a prolonged battle with lung disease.
Carol was born December 23, 1949 to Marion Peace (deceased) and Jo Lee Burke (deceased) in Corsicana, Texas. Shortly after her birth the family moved to Waco, Texas. Carol went on to study fine art at the University of North Texas where she met her loving husband Gibb (deceased) in 1971 and proceeded to have three children, Brandon (deceased), Blake, and Shelly.
Carol was a dedicated homemaker and served as President of the PTA twice. She never missed a single sports game, band concert, cheerleading event or school play. Carol faithfully provided family meals every night and never hesitated to invite a guest to join. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones, especially during holidays when her home was filled with her handmade wreaths and festive floral arrangements. Once her children were older, she proudly embarked on a career in administrative services with the Richardson Independent School District.
Carol was very artistically gifted. Her specialty was interior design. She could take an ordinary space and transform it into something beautiful, practical, and livable. She loved to bargain shop and if you mentioned a thing you liked, she’d buy multiples when she found them at a great price. Carol had a life-long love affair with fajitas from Pappasitos and banana splits from Braums. She cherished her cats, Bridget and Jasper, as if they were her children. She loved God, country music, historical romance, puzzles, and getting bi-weekly manicures. You could often find Carol and Gibb enjoying a cool drink together on the back porch beneath the Texas sun. She took extreme pride in her three grandchildren, Sarah (15), Channing (12), and Jack (11) for whom she enjoyed having over for sleepovers, swimming in the pool, and showering with presents.
Carol is survived by her son Blake Harris and his wife Megan, her daughter Shelly (Harris) Turner and her husband, Faulkner, and her grandchildren Sarah and Jack Harris and Channing Turner.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Restland Funeral Home's Wildwood Chapel followed by a brief graveside ceremony at Whispering Waters.
