Jo Ann Hunter's Obituary
Jo Ann Hunter, 77, of Dallas Texas, passed away on May 5, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday May 20th at Spring Valley United Methodist Church. Reverend Adam Young of SVUMC will be officiating. Jo was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 2, 1939. She graduated from Southwest High School in Kansas City and later received her Real Estate license in Texas. Jo was working as a receptionist at Geis-Hunter-Ramos, Architects, where she met the love of her life, Bob Hunter. They were married on December 7th, 1963 in Kansas City and were married for 29 years. The lived in Kansas City for a number of years, before relocating to Dallas in 1978. . Jo went on to become a successful realtor, working for Henry S. Miller Realtors. She enjoyed her time traveling to Durango Colorado with close friends. She was a great cook and loved to throw parties and entertain. Jo had and impeccable eye for decorating and enjoyed DIY home projects. Jo also had quite the green thumb and loved to plant flowers and work in her yard. She was devoted to her loving sister Pat. Bonded not only as sisters but as neighbors for over 20 years. They were often together for church events, running errands, lunches, dinners and everything in between. Jo will be missed by her daughter, Wendy Fischer and son Scott Hunter (Natalie) and her grandchildren Megan and Morgan Fischer, Nicholas, Ian, Lucas and Logan Hunter. She is also survived by her sister Pat Johnston and her niece Carol Nicholas (Greg) and nephew Robert Johnston (Lori) and many other nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Jo is preceded in death by her husband Bob, and parents Grace and Robert Haines. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Silver Gardens Assisted Living in Dallas. They were very loving and attentive to Jo’s needs in her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Alzheimer’s Association (Alz.org).
