Jo Ann Stone's Obituary
JO ANN WHITTEMORE STONE passed away peacefully in Plano, Texas in the early hours of Christmas Eve 2009 after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She was born December 10, 1930 in Munday, Texas, and graduated from Sunset High School, Knox County, Texas, with the class of 1947. She later moved to Dallas and was working at Peerless Manufacturing when she met her husband Sherrill Stone. They were married December 6, 1963 and have continued to make their home in Dallas ever since. She is preceded in death by her parents Ed Whittemore and Wilma Burnison Whittemore of Munday, Texas. She is also preceded by her brother Kenneth Whittemore. Jo Ann loved life to the fullest. She enjoyed fishing and entertaining at their lake home, learning alongside her many friends at local antique and book clubs, and traveling with family around the world. She especially valued her time with family friend Mildred Norman. Jo Ann was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Sherrill Stone; son, Sherrill Keith Stone of Frisco, Texas and son, David Craig Stone, M.D., of Los Angeles, California. She is also survived by niece Susan Whittemore Stone of Dublin, Texas. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Restland Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 3:00 PM, Monday, December 28, 2009 at Restland Funeral Home followed by interment in Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (www.lbda.org) or the American Heart Association (www.donate.americanheart.org).
