Joan B. Basinger's Obituary
BASINGER, JOAN LANELLE BETTS was born on August 28, 1935 to Hazel and JD Betts in Linden Texas and left this life to spend eternity with her Lord on April 23, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Buddy. Joan graduated from Sabine High School in Liberty City, Texas in 1953. She graduated with a degree in Home Economics from Baylor University in 1956. She briefly taught school at Carthage High School and for the remainder of her life she devoted her time to supporting and raising her family. In 1957 she married her high school sweetheart John. John and Joan were married for over 54 years and raised three sons, Kyle, Clark, and Mark. During their 54 years of marriage they travelled and lived all over the United States and the world, including England, Scotland, Indonesia, and Nigeria. Joan co-founded The International Baptist Church in Aberdeen, Scotland. Joan was very active at The Heights Baptist Church and helped establish The Heights in Spanish. Joan loved The Lord and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be missed by many. Joan leaves behind her husband John, son Kyle and daughter-in-law Marijo, son Clark and daughter-in-law Beth, and son Mark. Joan also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Aaron and wife Rachel, Brooke, Lauren, Jake, Cathryn, Zach, and Chase and great-granddaughter Regan. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 26, 2011. The service celebrating her life will take place on Wednesday, April 27 at 2:30 p.m. at The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas.
