Joan Marie Carpenter's Obituary
Joan (Jody) Marie Coldwell Carpenter was born July 28, 1928 in Tulsa, OK. She grew up in a wonderful loving family the oldest child of Benjamin Coldwell and Josephine Baumeister Coldwell with her siblings Jim, Alan, Cathy and Cecile at Lake Station. She graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing in Tulsa as a registered nurse. She practiced nursing at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa and 25 years at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. She married the love of her life, Roland Dale Carpenter in November 1949, and they had six children. This was the beginning of her favorite roles in life – wife, mother and nurse. Roland and Jody moved from Tulsa to Richardson in 1959. After Roland’s death in 1989, Jody moved to Granbury to be closest to her youngest grandchildren. Jody passed away on January 14, 2015 at home in Granbury surrounded by family and her caregivers. She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, her husband and son in-law, Don Rush. She is survived by her siblings, multiple nieces and nephews, her children, Debby Rush, Dale and Laura Carpenter, Dick and Michele Carpenter, Denise and David Hoover, Dan and Gaylene Carpenter, David and Tami Carpenter. Jody’s greatest joy was her grandchildren, their spouses and her great grandchildren. She was blessed with eighteen grandchildren, Lonnie and Karen Rush, Lisa and Erich Elmer, Jarrod and Ame Rush, Michael Carpenter, Chris and Melissa Carpenter, Benjamin Carpenter, Angela Henry, Patrick and Ashley Carpenter, Adrienne Kloewer, Allison Randall, John Hoover and Diana Stewart, Mark Hoover, James Hoover, Mikayla Carpenter, Josh Carpenter, Alexis Carpenter, Sydney Carpenter and Taren Garza as well as fourteen great grandchildren, Adam Elmer, Alex Elmer, Jocelyn Rush, Sierra Rush, Bryson Rush, John Henry, Isaac Henry, Micah Henry, Evelyn Henry, Scott Kloewer, Lyndsey Randall, Neamiah Randall, Teddy Randall and Josie Randall. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Debbie Johnson, Karen Adkison and JJ Adkison. The visitation for Joan will be from 06:30 to 08:00 PM on Friday, Janaury 23, 2015 with a Rosary begining at 06:00 PM in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. The funeral mass for Joan will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, Janaury 24, 2015 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Richardson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
