Joan E. Davis' Obituary
Joan was born January 1932 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Cammon and Alma Slocum. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to the Dallas area, where Joan spent her childhood years. She attended Crozier Tech High School and became an Executive Secretary for a large oil and gas company in Dallas.
Her life was blessed by her three beautiful daughters, Melissa Parr and husband Michael, Melinda Contaldi, Lyn Shelton and husband Mike. Also four grandchildren; Chris Gaiser and wife Nicole, Taylor Parr and wife Megan, Chase Shelton and wife Dr. Mary Kathryn, Shelby Shelton, and three great-grandchildren.
Joan and Lawson met in May 1962 and were married two years later in September 1964. The family lived in the Dallas area until Lawson's retirement at which point they moved to the piney woods of East Texas, where she designed her dream house at Holly Lake Ranch in 1995. Joan was active in their Church, made many lifelong friends, and was a part of the "Monday Night Gang", where several couples met for food, fellowship, and cards.
Joan was a devoted Mom and a loving Wife who brought joy to everyone around her. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all. There's no doubt we will see her again at Heaven's gate.
