Joan Elizabeth Flynt's Obituary
FLYNT, Joan Elizabeth Holmes, 81 passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 10th. She was born in Princeton, Texas to Lee Standlee & Lillie Holmes. Joan (pronounced “Jo Ann”) was the oldest of six children. She grew up in Highland Park. She is survived by all five of her siblings, her four children; daughter Cynthia Standfield and husband Stan, son Rob Flynt and wife Becky, daughter Shari Williamson and son Rick Flynt and wife Dee Dee. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was a Mother, Librarian, Preacher’s Wife and was wonderful at all. As a person who loved books, she instilled in her children the love of reading. She did work in the law libraries at Southern Methodist University, Texas Wesleyan University, and Baylor University as well as the Alvarado High School library. She served alongside her husband, Rev. Woody Flynt, Jr. in the United Methodist Church. Their ministry took them to Maypearl, Frost, Temple, Fort Worth, Springtown, Alvarado and Waco. She had suffered the last ten years with Alzheimer’s. Praise God for having mercy on her and taking her home to be with our sweet and funny Dad. They are so happy to be together again, as they were rarely ever apart. Sunday, the 18th will be their 63rd wedding anniversary and we’re so happy to know they will be spending it together. Her funeral will be Saturday, the 17th at 12:30 p.m. at Restland in Dallas. Those who wish can send a memorial donation to the Alzheimer’s Association on her behalf in lieu of flowers. Your thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated.
