Joan Ellen Oliver's Obituary
Joan was born in Chicago, IL. on Mar. 18, 1929, and passed away in Arlington, TX. on July 4, 2021, surrounded by family. She met the love of her life, Paul W. Oliver, in high school. They were married for 58 years until his passing on Nov. 11, 2007.
Joan never met a stranger. Her door was always open, with coffee, monkey tea, and sweets for her guests. She was famous for her letter and card writing. She loved teaching her girl's old songs, when they were little. They returned the favor by singing the songs to her on the day of her passing.
Preceded in death by her husband Paul; son-in-law Jay Gillen; mother Ellen Rottmann; step-dad Ted Rottmann; sister Eileen Haeck; brother-in-law Wally Haeck; brother Bill Riley, Jr; in-laws Ray and Dorothy Oliver, Tom Oliver, Ruth Oliver; two nieces; and friends . Survived by: Daughters: Susan Walls (Matt), Paula Hayden (Floyd), grandchildren: Stacy Perry, Jarrod Nolan, Sara Hoover (Brian); and great-grandchildren: Quinn Caroline and Miles Joseph Hoover. Families: Tom Oliver (Dallas); Dana Zamora (Aurora, IL); and Bob Blankenship (Dexter, Mo.). Close family and friends. Loving caregivers: Ann, Carolyn, Don & Martha, Laurie, Mary Mac, and Kelly. Per Joan's request no service will be held. Donations in Joan's name should be made to University Christian Church, 2720 S. University, Ft. Worth, 76109, or to a charity of your choice.
