Dear Vic,
I just heard this evening from my brother, David, of Joan's passing. We both loved and remembered Joan with much love.
It was always a special time when Clarence and Evelyn would pile the girls into the car and make the drive from Alice to Sandia. We would recognize who was coming from the first minute that they tuned off of the paved road into our sandy and dusty road up the hill to our house. In those days, we knew everyone's car on sight.
At first, it was only Joan and Doris coming to see me. Later, it was Joan, Doris, Shirley and Linda Kay coming to see both David and myself. We loaded them up with watermelons and cantaloupes if it was summer, or oranges it it was fall to send them back home again.
We also remember you and Joan bringing the girls to the farm when you returned stateside from being deployed to Rota, Spain.
Life took all of us in different directions, but our hearts were never severed. And, they are not severed now. We all are certain and sure of being together again in heaven.
