Joan Warner Stivers' Obituary
Joan Warner Stivers of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025. She was born September 25,1937, in Chicago, Illinois, to Alexander and Josephine Warner, who preceded her in death.
Joan was the devoted wife of Lewis Elmer Stivers for more than 57 years, a marriage clearly ordained by God between a refined city girl and a quiet farm boy and student. Their paths first crossed in Oklahoma igniting a lifelong and beautiful love. After marrying Lew in Chicago, Joan set aside her corporate career to join him in building their family, home, and business in Texas. She was the proud and loving mother of Greg (Julie) and Jeff (Joanna), and she delighted in her role as grandmother to her eight cherished grandchildren: Elizabeth, Grace, Samuel, Andrew, William, Alexander, Edward, and Margaret Stivers. She is survived by her beloved brother Donald Warner (Eileen).
Joan’s life was a living witness of Christ’s love, and her grace and humility made everyone feel welcome in her presence. Whether through a quiet word of comfort, a selfless act of care, or simply her radiant smile, she had a way of making others feel deeply loved and valued. A trip to grandma’s house was a treasured activity for each of the grandkids, because it was the center of gravity for the family. To her friends and community, she was a source of light, hope, and unwavering faith.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday, August 28th at Restland Funeral Home Chapel in Dallas with a Vigil and Rosary starting at 7:15 PM. A Celebration Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, August 29th at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plano.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Joan’s memory to St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church.
