Joan Striegel's Obituary
Joan Sears Striegel, age 87, passed away peacefully in her home on June 18, 2019 with her daughter Linda and granddaughters Bessie and Carrie Grace at her side. Joan was born in McKinney, Texas on November 21, 1931 to James Leonard and Gertrude Pamplin Sears. She is survived by her daughters Patricia Benoy and her husband Steve of Garland, TX, Linda Sherman and her husband Mark of Waco, TX, and Tracie Irvine and her husband Terry of Bella Vista, AR. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grand children. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert ‘Bob’ Lee Striegel and her brother Charles Ray Sears. She will be buried at Restland Cemetery in Dallas. Two years after Bob’s death in July 1993, Joan decided to leave the comfort and familiarity of the family home in Dallas and open a new chapter of her life in Waco, living near her daughter Linda and family. She recently told Linda that it was one of the hardest, yet best decisions she ever made. The move allowed her to see her grandchildren often and for her to eventually be cared for in her own home until she passed away. For this, the whole family is very grateful.Graveside services for Joan will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 10:00 am at Restland Cemetery located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243.
